Jeff Bezos is in India these days : he has scheduled meetings with politicians in the country, and also visits local Amazon offices. In his Twitter, Bezos announced an important step towards ecology – couriers will deliver packages on fully electric rickshaws.
By 2025, ten thousand such rickshaws in two versions will arrive in India – with three and four wheels. They will work in major cities of India: Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad and others.
Amazon is also switching to electric transport for couriers in other countries. For example, in the USA, a company ordered one hundred thousand electric vans from the manufacturer Rivian – they will leave on the roads next year.
Amazon’s global goal is to become a company with a “neutral” level of emissions by 2040, that is, they can be absorbed naturally and not harm the environment.
