Apple breaks contracts with game developers for Apple Arcade

Apple is changing Apple Arcade’s development strategy. The company has already terminated contracts with several gaming studios.

The developers were told that their games are not interesting enough for Apple Arcade. Now Apple is looking for famous and interesting projects that will attract new subscribers.

The company highlights Grindstone as an exemplary game. These are the titles Apple wants to place in Apple Arcade.

Since the launch, the service has released 120 games. None of them became a real hit. The developers are sure that Apple did not score the planned number of subscribers.

Apple has spent tens of millions of dollars creating Apple Arcade. Some studios received up to $ 5 million for several games.

Despite the termination of contracts, Apple paid for the part of the work that the developers have already done. The company is also open to cooperation on future games that will meet new requirements. [ Bloomberg ]
