Apple closes all stores in China

Apple is temporarily closing all of its stores in mainland China, the press center of the California giant said today. According to CNBC , points of sale and service of Apple products in this country will not work until at least February 9th. Such measures have been taken due to the spread of viral infection caused by a new type of coronavirus.

“We think about the people most affected by the new virus, as well as those who work around the clock to study and control the spread of infection. Based on the latest recommendations from leading healthcare experts, we are closing all of our corporate offices, shops and contact centers in mainland China until February 9, ”  Apple said in a statement.

Apple online stores will continue to operate in China. The company will monitor the situation and open physical points “as soon as possible.”

Most of Apple’s products are manufactured in China, and this region is one of the key for the company in the world. Last December, 3.2 million iPhones were sold in China. Moreover, this figure increased compared to December 2018 (then the Chinese bought 2.7 million Apple smartphones).
