Apple has a pleasant problem for any business: the demand for products is so great that there are not enough components. Because of this, according to Bloomberg , the company turned to the TSMC manufacturer, which manufactures A13 Bionic mobile chips in its factories – the Cupertians want to increase production due to the extremely high sales of the iPhone 11.
The agency reports that the iPhone 11 exceeded Apple’s expectations and the originally ordered volume of the A13 Bionic is no longer enough. There is also another reason for the additional chip output: according to various sources, the A13 Bionic will be used in the unannounced iPhone SE successor, the budget Apple smartphone, which is also likely to be commercially successful. Its premiere is expected in the coming months.
Also in the second quarter, Apple plans to launch a new generation of chips – A14. We will see them in the new iPhone line, which will be presented in the fall.
In the fourth quarter of last year, the current model line of Apple smartphones (iPhone 11, Pro and Pro Max) accounted for 69% of all iPhone sales.
