Australia will help NASA build a space station in the lunar orbit

The country will create robots that will assemble the structure in space on remote control from the Earth.

The Government of Western Australia announced the opening of a robotic center in partnership with NASA. He will develop robots that can remotely build a space station in the orbit of the moon.

As Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology of Western Australia Dave Kelly explained in a conversation with reporters, space launches will only become part of new missions to the Moon and Mars. According to him, much will be done remotely from the Earth.

Local authorities expect that the project will attract $ 200 million to the region’s economy and create 1,500 jobs over the next five years. Kelly noted that the organization uses technologies already used in Western Australia, but adapts them for remote operations in space.
