Blackmagic unveils $ 10,000 12K RAW video camera
Blackmagic has unveiled the URSA Mini Pro 12K camera after nearly four years of developing a suitable sensor. The dynamic range of the sensor is 14 EV, the base sensitivity is ISO 800. The camera has an 80-megapixel Super 35 sensor (12288 × 6480 pixels, its size is 27.0 × 14.25 mm).
In native resolution 12K shoots at 60 fps, in 8K and 4K (in the second case with crop) – 110 and 220 fps, respectively. SD UHS-II and CFast memory cards can be used to record data. The camera is equipped with a mount for PL lenses, but it can be replaced with Canon EF and Nikon F mounts.
The company notes that it is unlikely that camera buyers will shoot video in 12K, but thanks to the “extra” pixels, you can get a clearer and richer image in lower resolutions, as well as provide higher quality content after the post-production phase.
