Google plans to switch to using proprietary chips on Pixel smartphones and Chromebooks. This became known to the Axios resource.

According to the publication, such a move will help Google strengthen its position in competition with Apple, which uses its own chips in the iPhone — this allows for better optimization of the system and the bundle of software with hardware.

The eight-core chip from Google is developed under the code name Whitechapel, among the features – optimization for the use of machine learning technology from Google. The corporation designed the chip with the participation of Samsung experts, the Koreans will also be engaged in the production of new items.

It is reported that Google has already received working versions of the chips, but the introduction of serial Pixel models will not happen until next year.
