I can not understand why the voice assistant does not read out the text of messages received on the iPhone. How to properly set up this feature?

Announcing messages using Siri through a connected headset does not work on all devices and headphones. This feature requires your iPhone or iPad to be updated to at least iOS 13.2/iPadOS 13.2 .

In addition, to speak messages, you need to have a compatible headset:

AirPods (2nd generation)
AirPods Pro
Powerbeat Pro
Beats Solo Pro

If the mobile gadget and headset are supported, you can enable the option along the path Settings – Notifications – Announce messages with Siri .

In the same menu, you can select the circle of contacts, notifications from which will be read. This can be only added contacts, only favorite users, recent messages or incoming messages from all users.

When the feature is turned on, Siri will speak incoming messages if the headset is connected and worn, and the iPhone or iPad is locked. After the voice assistant reads the text of the message, you can immediately reply to it with your voice.
