Call of Duty: Warzone on Xbox Series X suddenly gets 120 FPS support

But not on PS5.

This is reported by the Eurogamer portal with reference to the testing of its technical division, Digital Foundry. The developers themselves have not yet announced support for up to 120 FPS on the Xbox Series X, however, a mention of the high frame rate mode appeared on the Warzone and Modern Warfare pages in the Microsoft Store.

Initial verification by Digital Foundry showed that Warzone on Series X actually reaches 120 FPS, but mostly frame rates are kept between 100 and 120. DF did not specify in what resolution Warzone runs on Series X with support up to 120 FPS.

DF also confirms that battle royale still runs at 60 FPS on PS5. Experts from DF tested the game in several different ways and in all cases Warzone on PS5 did not produce more than 60 FPS.

As noted by Eurogamer, such a limitation may be due to the fact that Warzone runs on PS5 for backward compatibility with PS4.

Bungie recently announced that PvP mode in Destiny 2 on PS5 and Xbox Series X will run at 120 FPS with reduced resolution and some graphical tweaks. On Series S, this mode will work at the standard 60 FPS.
