Eliud Kipchoge became the first person in the world to run a marathon faster than two hours

Kipchoge is the Rio 2016 Olympic champion and holder of the current world record in the marathon.

Kenyan runner Eliud Kipchoge in Vienna ran a marathon in less than two hours , his control time was 1 hour 59 minutes and 40 seconds. At the same time, his achievement cannot be considered a world record, since the tournament is closed.

The 34-year-old athlete also holds the current world record – it was set at 2: 01.39 in 2018 at the Berlin Marathon.
