Ghost of Tsushima’s circulation information appeared in The New York Times column dedicated to the launch of a new generation of consoles from Sony.
The material does not specify at what point the sales of the samurai action broke the mark of 5 million copies. Apparently, these are relevant indicators – the game achieved them in four months from release.
Previously, Ghost of Tsushima has already become the fastest selling new IP from Sony, reaching 2.4 million copies in three days. It was also the top -selling title in the US in July.
Thus, from the first week to mid-November, Ghost of Tsushima doubled the number of copies. For comparison, Horizon Zero Dawn (also a new IP) at one time sold 3.4 million copies in two months and 7.6 million copies in a year after release.
The New York Times also notes that the total sales of the God of War series reached 51 million copies.
