Google Photos sent private videos to strangers

Google warned some users of the Google Photos service that their private videos, which are often automatically uploaded to the cloud from a smartphone, were sent to outsiders. The embarrassment happened as a result of the failure of the Google Takeout service, which allows uploading user data (photos, videos, etc.) from the services of the “corporation of good”.

Due to a technical malfunction from November 21 to 25 of last year, a small number of users, Google claims, received private videos from other users. How small this amount on a Google scale is not specified.

The company only writes that less than 0.01% of users were affected. Last summer, Google Photos service facilities used about 1 billion people. The company apologizes to a tenth of a percent of these users.

Remember the scandals with “naked” photos? Why it is impossible to store personal data in the “cloud”
