Valve officially unveiled Half-Life: Alyx, the first game in twelve years in this universe. The action is developed for virtual reality helmets and will work only with them – alas, ordinary monitors will not work. At the same time, any helmet is suitable: Valve Index, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and so on.
The main character became Alix Vance. The action takes place between the events of the first and second parts of Half-Life. We have at our disposal “gravity gloves” that are needed to solve puzzles and, for example, attract weapons to ourselves. The trailer looks promising, the developers say that this is a full-fledged new game in the series and in terms of duration it will be at the level of Half-Life 2.
The game is being developed on the new Source 2 engine. The capabilities of its tools will allow you to create your own levels, so the action can get a lot of amateur modifications and extensions.
For a comfortable game, you will need a Core i5-7500 or Ryzen 5 1600, as well as a video card of the GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 580 level. At the same time, you will need 12 GB of RAM. Owners of the Valve Index helmet will receive the game for free.
In an interview with The Verge, a Valve spokesman said that the game should be perceived as a full-fledged return of Half-Life and the developers do not want to stop only at Alyx. But about Half-Life 3, of course, did not say a word.
Half-Life: Alyx will be released next March.
