In connection with the discussion of tactile vibration feedback of the Sony DualSense gamepad, I’ll tell you how to run any game on a PC (or almost any, you need to test) with support for Xbox One Controller impulse triggers. Moreover, they will vibrate not every time you click, but depending on the context.
I checked the function in Red Dead Redemption 2 — the left trigger vibrates only when aiming, thanks to it every sent cartridge is felt. When talking with characters, vibration feedback is not activated.
What is a pulse trigger in general? This is not the first time I’ve come across the fact that the owners of the Xbox One Controller on the PC do not know about this feature, since it is used in only a few games.
Additional vibration motors under each trigger help convey the feeling of the surface or small actions. Everyone who has played in recent Forza releases remembers that thanks to them, you can feel every roughness on the road.
To make them work in more games, you need to download X1nput V2.0 from araghon007 . This method works only with Windows 10 and reassigns the vibration response from the gamepad handles to the triggers. Both that and another at the same time works only in games with native support.
Unpack the archive xinput1_3.dll from the 64/32 bit folder into the folder with the exe.-file of the game, and duplicate it 4 times, so that in the end there are 5 files. Next, rename them to get the following files:
If you want to adjust the sensitivity of the triggers, copy the X1nput.ini file to the game folder. By default, the sensitivity of 0.25, if it is not enough for you, you can increase it.
Everything, nothing else to do, you just have to start the game and … most likely there will be no vibration. To make it work, you need to connect the gamepad after the game starts (I reconnect the cable). You can also reload the gamepad configuration by pressing both bumpers and the start button (menu).
The author confirmed the work in:
GTA V (offline), Rocket League (offline), DOOM, Just Cause 4, Need For Speed: Most Wanted (2012), Portal 2, Hitman 2, Distance, Broforce.
He does not recommend using the library in multiplayer games, as there is a risk of getting banned for modifying files.
