he Mate line for Huawei is special. It is in it that the Chinese manufacturer demonstrates its most advanced developments, which are then gradually introduced into other devices. Not surprisingly, so much attention is paid to the presentation of each new Mate model. This time, almost a thousand journalists from around the world gathered in London to look at what Huawei is going to surprise consumers with.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro
The most amazing thing about the Mate 20 Pro is its photo capabilities. The company has long been focusing on the ability of smartphones to take photos and videos. And together with Leica, it was decided to install three main cameras: a 40-megapixel with an f / 1.8 aperture, a 20-megapixel telephoto with an f / 2.4 aperture and an 8-megapixel wide-angle.
To provide decent shooting in the dark, a separate function is called, combining four pixels into one. Moreover, the Mate 20 Pro has 3x optical zoom (and 5x hybrid), and underwater shooting is also implemented. Macro shooting is possible starting from a distance of just 2.5 centimeters from the subject. Moreover, thanks to the vertical laser emitter, the 24-megapixel front camera is able to accurately and quickly recognize the user’s face – like the way new iPhones do it. Using the camera, you can also determine the calorie content of food.
Another interesting thing is Huawei’s own memory card format invented by Huawei. MicroSD goes down in history, and NanoSD comes in its place. In fact, this is an ordinary memory card, but the size is the same as nano-SIM. This means that both slots in the phone are now exactly the same.
Fast charging allows you to recharge the battery with a capacity of 4200 mAh at 70% in half an hour. There is also support for wireless charging, and, according to the company, the speed of energy replenishment is 440% higher than that of the iPhone XS Max . And the Mate 20 Pro itself will be able to fulfill the role of such a charge: put another device on it – and it charges. The glass case is protected from dust and moisture. Engineers built a fingerprint scanner under the glass of the display.
Other technical specifications include a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440 × 3120 pixels, a Kirin 980 processor, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. The issue price is 1049 euros.
Huawei Mate 20 RS
As expected, Huawei showed a premium version of the smartphone – the Mate 20 RS. The design of the model was developed in conjunction with the Porsche bureau. In the decoration, not only glass is used, but also red or black leather.
The hardware is almost the same as in the Mate 20 Pro, except that the RAM here is 8 GB, not 6 GB. The version with a 256 GB drive in Europe will cost 1695 euros, with 512 GB – 2095 euros.
Huawei Mate 20
The younger version of the “firmware” has more modest technical characteristics, although the difference is not that big. The design is almost the same, except for the classic fingerprint sensor on the back panel and a drop-shaped cutout at the top of the display. The diagonal of the IPS-screen is 0.1 inches larger, but the resolution is less and is 2244 × 1080 pixels. In addition, in this model there are no rounded ends, the matrix is traditional, “flat”.
Three cameras, but the sensors are different. In contrast to the 40 + 20 + 8 megapixel scheme, a 16 + 12 + 8 megapixel arrangement is used, and optical stabilization is preserved. The battery capacity is slightly less and is 4000 mAh. Otherwise, the Mate 20 is no different from its older brother.
In Europe, a smartphone can be bought from today for 849 euros. At 50 euros cheaper version with 4 GB of RAM instead of 6 GB.back to menu ↑
Huawei Mate 20 X
This model is positioned as a gaming. Mate 20 X is a kind of hybrid that has incorporated something from the Mate 20 Pro, something from the Mate 20, but with its own twist.
So, the device is equipped with a 7.2-inch OLED display with a resolution of Full HD +. The screen supports working with a complete stylus that recognizes more than four thousand levels of depression. In addition, there is a battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh, just designed for serious gaming loads.
Mate 20 X is equipped with the same camera unit as its senior “colleague”. In Europe, the model can be bought for almost 900 euros.back to menu ↑
Watch GT Watch and Band 3 Pro Bracelet
The company did not limit itself to smartphones and introduced the Watch GT smartwatch with many advanced features for lovers of an active lifestyle.
The device received a 1.39-inch OLED display with a resolution of 454 × 454 pixels. The new energy-efficient processor, according to the developer, allows the watch to work without recharging for two weeks in the daily mode of a smart assistant. Huawei did not forget to compare the model with the latest generation of Apple Watch, which can not stand a day.
The novelty is able to monitor the pulse in real time, and athletes will certainly appreciate the presence of atmospheric pressure sensors, a compass, a barometer and GPS. The case is protected from moisture. Buying a watch for a simple European guy will cost 249 euros, if we talk about the classic version. The Sport modification with a rubber strap costs 199 euros.
The Band 3 Pro fitness bracelet is equipped with a 0.95-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 120 × 240 pixels. There is a touchscreen, GPS, recognition of training of various types and autonomy for about 20 days. The price in Europe is 99 euros.back to menu ↑
Note that in , of all four smartphone models, the Mate 20 Pro will definitely be sold. Soon we will prepare a detailed review of the device, but for now we can share our first impressions. Live device looks much more interesting than in any photos or in commercials. The device is surprisingly thin (thinner than it seems), the unit with the camera does not look too bulky, and the colors play nicely.
The front panel design brings back memories of the Galaxy line. The point, of course, is the rounded ends. True, the radius of curvature in the case of the Mate 20 Pro is not so large. The result was a compromise between classic flat glass and curved.
The Mate 20 is tactilely more slippery, but its bulky dimensions are not felt in the hand. The “droplet” display looks interesting, but in essence we are still faced with the same “monobrow”. But the Mate 20 RS model remained a mystery to us. Subjectively, all these leather inserts give a lurid Asian. In this case, in front of us is a copy of the “firmware”. What is the money for? Is that a memory.
