The Italian division of the portal reported this with reference to Sony itself. The company has confirmed that there will be no native support for 1440p on the PS5 – instead, the console will upscale to 1080p or downscale to 4K. Accordingly, on monitors with 1440p the output picture will be slightly worse.
The PS4 Pro is also limited to native support for 1080p and 4K, despite the fact that most games on the console run at 1440p.
Monitor maker BenQ has previously mentioned native 1440p support on the PS5, but the information appears to be inaccurate.
Xbox Series X | S will support 1440p, the target resolution for Microsoft’s younger console model, while Series X is designed for 4K gaming.
The PlayStation 5 will go on sale in Russia on November 19, and the Xbox Series will be released on the 10th.
