Intel announced the tenth-generation Comet Lake processors.
These are 14-nm chips, which are not much different from their predecessors Coffee Lake and Whiskey Lake. But there are important innovations. For example, the family includes the first Intel Core U-series processor, which received 6 cores and 12 threads. We are talking about the flagship model Core i7-10710U .
The Core i7-10510U and Core i5-10210U processors offer 4 cores and 8 threads, and the Core i3-10110U received 2 cores and 4 threads. This is a special line for the mobile segment.
Also introduced is a new Y-series with lower power consumption . In it, the Core i5 and i7 chips received 4 cores and 8 threads, and Core i3 – 2 cores and 4 threads.
Intel claims that all new processors are 16% faster than the last generation.
The standard TDP level (a value indicating the heat dissipation of the processor cooling system should be designed for) for Lake-U was 15 watts, but can be increased to 25 watts. And for Lake-Y, this figure was 4.5, 7 and 9 watts.
Thanks to Dynamic Tuning technology that controls the frequencies, performance has grown by 8-12% depending on the model.
And the last one. All processors have an integrated Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 wireless controller . The data transfer rate reaches 1 Gbit / s. But Thunderbolt 3 did not receive new items. [ The Verge ]
