Samsung Electronics America introduced a version of the civilian smartphone Galaxy S20, reformatted to the needs of the military. Called the Galaxy S20 Tactical Edition, it is “a software package tailored to the unique needs of the federal government and the Department of Defense.” The device promises military-level security, will be released in the third quarter of 2020.
The novelty will support the requirements of tactical and secret applications that are designed to navigate complex terrain and in the event of a loss of communication with the command unit. The smartphone is protected by two-level data encryption based on the standards of the US National Security Agency.
“The development of this solution is the result of coordination and feedback received from our customers and partners from the Ministry of Defense, ” said a company representative in a press release.
The novelty is able to connect to tactical radio stations and completely disconnect from mobile networks, it works correctly with all specific applications.
