Smartphone sales fell 20%

Global smartphone sales in the first quarter of 2020 fell by 20% due to the coronavirus epidemic relative to this figure last year. Such data are contained in the report of the analytical company Gartner. In the first quarter, the impact of the epidemic fell mainly on Asia, in China production was closed, supply chains were broken, sales fell.

And since consumers began to spend less money even on basic necessities, the desire to update the smartphone for many was in the background.

According to Gartner, the share of sales of Huawei smartphones fell the most. The number of their tubes decreased by 27.3%. Samsung’s sales slipped by 22.7% and Apple’s by 8.2%. Only Xiaomi managed to increase sales by 1.4% compared to the first quarter of 2019.
