The developer recreated his apartment in virtual reality, turning surfaces into touchscreens

Greg Madison from Unity Labs used SketchUp, Blender, and the Unity engine to recreate his apartment in digital space.

According to the developer, he has long been obsessed with the idea of introducing interfaces from alternative reality into the environment, and he calls the Oculus Quest helmet a dream for designers like him.

Madison’s video is only a test of the concept, but it’s enough to see the potential in applying this.

Ideally, with the help of mixed reality devices, a person in the future will be able to see many interfaces on the surface and use them, but so far the technology is in the early stages of development.
