He played a simple programmer and his great-grandfather from 1920, who survived in the brine for a century.
The main character of the film is Hershel Greenbaum, a poor immigrant from eastern Europe who moved to the USA with his family and got a job at a pickling factory. By negligence, he fell into a tub with cucumbers – and spent a hundred years in brine, not growing old.
Waking up in a changed New York, he finds his great-grandson, who works as a programmer. And decides that he should help the descendant to establish life.
American Cucumber (originally An An American Pickle) is based on the book of the same name by Simon Rich, creator of the series A Man Seeking a Woman and Miracle Workers. Rich himself adapted it into the screenplay, which was put on by Brandon Trost, who worked as an operator on “The Creator of Woe,” as well as the show “Barry” and “The Man of the Future”. For him, this is the second full-length directorial work.
Comedy will be released on HBO Max on August 6th.
