Three-quarters of all console sales in Japan in 2019 came from Nintendo Switch

The total circulation for the year amounted to 4.5 million devices.

In 2019, the Nintendo Switch circulation in Japan amounted to 4.5 million devices, which is 29% higher than in 2018.

In second place in 2019 is PlayStation 4 with 1.91 million units sold – a drop in sales compared to 2018 amounted to 29%.

Xbox One for 2019 sold less than Nintendo 3DS – 8 thousand and 191 thousand pieces, respectively. At the end of the year, sales of Microsoft consoles amounted to only 0.1% of the total number of consoles sold.

According to French journalist Oksar Lemard, Nintendo has shown the best result ever that Famitsu has been calculating since 1999. The journalist notes that by the end of 2020, dominance could end as soon as Sony and Microsoft release the next-generation consoles.

At the end of October 2019, Nintendo reported on 41 million devices sold worldwide, and in early December, the console began to be sold in China.

In December, the magazine of the Consumer Institute of France named the Nintendo Switch one of the most low-quality products of the year – due to the drift of joysticks.
