Canalys analyst firm announced the forecast that smartphone sales in China in the first quarter will fall by 50%. The reason for this will be the coronavirus, due to which the work of enterprises is suspended, outlets are closed. Vendors will be forced to postpone the launch of new products or, in some cases, cancel them, analysts say.
According to Reuters, hundreds of Chinese enterprises are awaiting government support. They are asking for billions of dollars, which, among other things, will overcome the economic difficulties that have arisen due to the coronavirus. Economic growth, according to preliminary forecasts, will slow down by 5%.
This will result in slower production, closed factories and the supply of goods abroad. Among the companies that requested state aid are Xiaomi, Meituan Dianping, Didi Chuxing Technology, Qihoo 360 and some others. According to a Reuters source, Xiaomi requested a loan of $ 716 million to increase the production of medical masks and thermometers. Meituan Dianping needs additional funds to establish free food supplies and medical staff to Wuhan.
